BRANDNEW FILMS
PROFILE
Founded in Hersham, Surrey
by Simon Mason, Brandnew Films began in 1998
with the now legendary short film
Bradbury Bear
Fire Ranger. It played at the London
Film Festival later that year and was on the
long short-list for a BAFTA.
Energised by the warm response to Bradbury, the
years ahead saw three more short films in the
comedy/drama genre -
Rockin' Chair,
The Forecourt
Pimpernel and
The Shant Club
which have played at festivals all over the
world and picked up several awards. In
this time our style and craft developed and we
discovered we had an ethos - stylish,
unpretentious film-making, playing a great deal
of emphasis on acting and characterisation.
Not only is The
Toybox our first full-length feature, it
is the first Brandnew Films production that has
been entirely shot on digital. Our plan is to
continue making digital films - embracing the
new technology as the friend and saviour of
independent filmmakers.
